Terms and Conditions

1. About SecureBand

SecureBand is an NFC-enabled identity verification and smart event access system for Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (MMCL). It was developed by MMCL CCIS students as a capstone project. It includes a mobile app, a web portal for organizers and administrators, and NFC scanners at event entrances.

By creating an account, or by using the app or the web portal, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and to the Data Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, please do not use SecureBand.

2. Who can use SecureBand

  • You must be an MMCL attendee, organizer or staff member with an allowed school email address.
  • The details you give must be true and complete, such as your name, email, department and program.
  • You may have only one account. Do not create an account for another person.

3. Your account

  • Keep your password secret. Do not share your account or your verification codes with anyone.
  • You are responsible for everything done with your account.
  • We strongly suggest turning on Google Authenticator in your profile for extra safety.
  • Tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account.

4. Your SecureBand NFC band or ID

  • Your NFC credential is linked to your account and is for your use only.
  • Do not lend, copy or clone it, and do not use someone else's.
  • Report a lost band or card at once so it can be switched off.
  • An administrator may switch off a credential that is lost, misused or no longer needed.

5. Registering for events

  • Some events are open to all attendees. Others are limited to certain departments, programs or invited attendees. You can only see and join the events that are meant for you.
  • Each event has a capacity. When it is full, you cannot register.
  • You can register alone or as a group. A group has the leader and up to 4 members, so 5 people at most.
  • When you register a group, you must give true names and emails of your members. Make sure they know that you shared their details so they can get their event codes.
  • Follow the registration cutoff of each event. We cannot register you after the cutoff.

6. Tickets and payments

  • For ticketed events, you must upload a real receipt or proof of payment. Your registration stays Pending until the organizer checks it.
  • SecureBand does not collect or hold your money. Payment is between you and the event organizer.
  • Refunds and price questions are handled by the organizer of the event.
  • Fake, edited or reused receipts will be rejected and your account may be suspended.

7. Attendance and entry

  • When you tap your band, card or phone at a scanner, the system records the time and the result of the scan.
  • For events with Time In and Time Out, both taps are recorded.
  • Entry may be denied if you are not registered, if your registration is not yet approved, or if the event is not open at that time.
  • Scan records may be used to count attendance and to make event reports.

8. For organizers

  • Give correct information about your events, such as the schedule, venue, capacity and price.
  • Use the details of attendees only for running your event. Do not share them or use them for other purposes.
  • Upload only posters and pictures that you have the right to use.
  • Check receipts fairly and on time.

9. What you must not do

  • Do not use SecureBand to break the law or the rules of MMCL.
  • Do not try to hack, overload, copy or break the system, the scanners or the NFC credentials.
  • Do not use fake names, fake emails or another person's identity.
  • Do not upload content that is harmful, offensive, or that you do not have the right to share.
  • Do not collect other users' information without permission.

10. Emails and notifications

We send you verification codes, event alerts, ticket updates and announcements by email, in the app and by push notification. You need to receive security codes to use your account.

11. Content you upload

You may upload items such as a profile photo, a payment receipt or an event poster. You promise that you have the right to upload them. You allow SecureBand to store and show them only as needed to run the system, for example showing a poster to attendees or a receipt to the organizer.

12. Suspension

We may suspend or switch off an account, or an NFC credential, if these Terms are broken, if there is a security risk, or if the school asks us to.

13. Availability

SecureBand is provided as is. We try to keep it working, but there may be downtime, mistakes or changes. We do not promise that the service will always be available or error free.

14. Limit of responsibility

To the extent allowed by law, the SecureBand team and MMCL are not responsible for losses that come from using or not being able to use SecureBand, such as a missed event or a problem caused by a lost or shared password.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The new version will be posted in the app and on the web portal with a new date. If you keep using SecureBand after that, it means you accept the changes.

16. Governing law

These Terms follow the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
